Vastly becoming the ‘New Standard’ for lighting, circular economy luminaires are perfect for improving sustainability across many sites. We will be discussing circular methods and how Kingfisher have implemented them within our range.
What is Circular Economy?
This is the process of mitigating the disposal of materials where they can be reused. Through smart utilisation of the materials, it ensures they can be ‘reduced, reused and recycled’ wherever possible.
The Process for Assessing Circular Economy in Lighting
Products undergo a rigorous assessment to ensure they meet guidance from TM66 CIBSE Publication and Assessment Methods for Creating a Circular Economy in Lighting. This also involves undergoing the Circular Economy Assessment Method (CEAM) which is a structured framework for assessing lighting products based on design, materials used, manufacturing and the overall impact on the ecosystem.
Kingfisher’s Circular Economy Journey
Kingfisher Lighting hold environmental responsibility at the core of our practises and therefore we are meticulous with our methods in a bid to improve so we emit less carbon and encapsulate sustainability.
Kingfisher host a variety of luminaires available with not only TM66 scores for Circular Economy but also TM65 reports outlining embodied carbon within products which can be provided upon request. We also feature the results on our Kingfisher datasheets to ensure we remain transparent with our customers.
We only have one world, and this is our opportunity to protect it. That’s why we’ve already made huge strides across our manufacturing processes in addition to reducing an average of 95% of single use plastics across products. We’ve introduced circular manufacturing methods across our product ranges to eliminate excessive waste where possible.
CIRECO – Our Dedicated Circular Economy Luminaire
With a dedicated circular economy luminaire, CIRECO, we’re determined to reduce our impact on the environment whilst ensuring sites benefit from high efficiency luminaires. CIRECO is our future proofed solution fitted with a Zhaga receptacle ensuring it is smart ready to meet the future needs of sites.
You can download the CIRECO brochure here for more information.
Overall, Kingfisher are already implementing these sustainable manufacturing methods and in a bid to reduce our impact on the environment. We remain at the forefront of lighting technology and will continue to pave the way to a sustainable future.
