Kingfisher’s Laura Coakley has now returned from Tanzania, where she successfully completed a 6-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).
Laura chose to take on this challenge because she was inspired by the incredible work the EIC do and wanted to do her part to contribute. She has raised a total of £5,162 from various fundraising events, exceeding her £5000 target.
The climb presented both physical and mental obstacles; Laura had to remain motivated to continue as she traversed the varying terrain and drastic temperature changes. In addition to this, she trekked incredible distances each day, sometimes travelling for up to 14 hours in one day.
Despite the challenges, Laura walked a staggering distance of around 70km along the Lemosho route to reach the summit at approximately 5,895 high on Thursday, (3.10.24) at 4:30am. This is an incredible achievement, and a perfect way for Laura to celebrate her 30th birthday, overlooking the vast view of the mountain below.
Please join us in congratulating Laura on this amazing achievement!
