After months of rigorous training to prepare herself physically and mentally, Laura is heading to Tanzania today ahead of her Kilimanjaro challenge, in aid of The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).
Laura chose the EIC because she was inspired by the positive impact it has on people's lives within the industry and wanted to contribute to the incredible work they do. This includes supporting people who work in the electrical industry with counselling, advocacy, financial assistance, and more. She’s planned and hosted a number of fundraising events in the leadup to the climb, and has raised over £5K, a tremendous achievement.
Her official ascent will commence on Sunday 29th September, and she’ll climb approximately 10km before settling at Machame Camp for the first night. The challenge will last 6 days, and Laura will be trekking between 5-14 hours per day, experiencing drastic temperature changes and ever-changing terrain.
Laura will reach the summit on day 5, climbing for a total of around 10 – 14 hours and reaching a height of 5,896m. She will celebrate her 30th birthday on the summit, overlooking the amazing views.
All at Kingfisher wish Laura the very best of luck, we will be thinking about her every step of the way!
