Lighting Up World Animal Day

Product

World Animal Day falls on the 4th of October each year, and is a global celebration dedicated to improving animal welfare. This year’s theme is ‘The World is Their Home Too.’ This date coincides with the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, which makes it the perfect occasion to reflect on how we can better protect all creatures great and small.

What is World Animal Day?

This day was established to raise global awareness and improve the status of animals through events in schools, organisations, and communities with the mission to enhance animal well-being worldwide. This encourages everyone to take steps, big or small, towards a future where all creatures can thrive.

Kingfisher’s Role in Animal Welfare

Kingfisher Lighting believes in creating responsible products and services that have minimal environmental impact, while contributing to animal welfare. Our range of eco-friendly luminaires supports this by making environments safer for wildlife without sacrificing human needs.

Single Spectrum

Designed for localised environments such as nature reserves and natural habitats, these lights minimize disruption to wildlife. With three colours – red, amber and green, this system is best utilised to target areas with huge environmental concerns preserving nocturnal behaviours and reducing harm to delicate ecosystems.

Dim to Warm

Perfect for sites near wildlife habitats that still require higher levels of lighting for functionality, such as car parks or pathways. This system offers a flexible solution via adjustable colour temperatures, ensuring areas are optimised for human use while reducing light pollution that could disturb nearby animals, especially after dusk.

DarkSky Luminaires

Ideal for dark sky areas, these products are specifically designed to reduce light pollution, benefiting species like bats and nocturnal mammals who rely on darkness for navigation and feeding. By offering solutions that align with DarkSky standards, we help create a safer and more natural environment for wildlife.
