When it comes to rail and infrastructure, lighting plays a pivotal role in ensuring safety, security, and aesthetic appeal. VAILO is the sleek, GRP bollard designed to produce spacings of up to 8 metres thanks to its bespoke optical system.
Design Philosophy
The Kingfisher Lighting Product Team wanted to create a solution for both rail and infrastructure projects, as well as public realm and carparking applications. They highlighted key requirements such as extensive spacing capabilities, non-conductive materials, a low glare output as well as on-site adjustability.
The Results
After extensive research and development, VAILO was born. Crafted to meet strict specifications identified by Rail industry experts, this bollard offers outstanding distribution, supports easy installation and promotes excellent circularity.
GRP Construction
VAILO is manufactured using high grade Glass Reinforced Plastic, specified within the rail industry due to its non-conductive properties. This material choice makes it perfect for class 2 installations. VAILO also boasts a marine grade finish, protecting it from the elements for years to come.
Optical System
Designed and engineered in the UK, VAILO’s unique system has been created to provide 8:1 spacings with a beam angle of between 65 – 70. This allows a greater distribution with uniformities of 25%+ which is far greater than any standard bollard on the market. With 3 optics to choose from, the bespoke optics are suitable for both area and pathway illumination on site.
Spacings
The optical set-up to allow up to 8 metre spacings, reducing the number of luminaire’s needed on site, therefore reducing the initial costs, installation time and of course running costs.
Adjustable Output
This bollard is equipped with an on-board switch system that allows the installer to easily select either twin or single sided illumination. This helps to direct the light where it is needed without emitting unwanted lighting to hedgerows or residential areas, while further reducing running costs.
Easy Installation
VAILO comes equipped with an adjustable installation plate that ensure bollards can be perfectly aligned to each other on site. This luminaire also has a damage-free opening tool and an easy user guide to save time and money on-site.
