Springfield Quay

Glasgow

Based alongside the River Clyde in Glasgow, Springfield Quay is an award-winning entertainment complex featuring many of the nation’s favourite leisure venues, including restaurants, luxury cinema, adventure games, hotels and casinos.

Developed in 1996, the Springfield Quay, also known as Glasgow Quay, was just the beginning and inspired the arrival of many other entertainment spots along the River Clyde. This prompted the area to established as Glasgow’s ‘go-to’ entertainment hub which sits perfectly on the iconic river front.

The Project

As part of Springfield Quay’s £1.5 million renovation, the Kingfisher Sport & High Mast Team were invited to provide a full LED replacement scheme. With existing older technology fixtures sitting atop the 20 metre masts, the client relied on expert consultation to make the most out of this site.

The Solution

The Kingfisher Team carried out a full survey of the site, including the existing fittings, masts and bracketry and determined that the columns and brackets were in good condition and could be reused, creating savings for the client from the start.

The Fittings

Using 24 powerful Amnis Match luminaires, the Team were able to achieve a high efficiency, low glare illumination that exceeded required levels throughout the site. The Narrow Short Throw optic was selected as it provides a powerful projection of light which optimises spacings and offers greater uniformity.

Amnis uses Alanod™ Reflector Technology to provide efficientflicker-free illumination with a sharp cut off of light, making this is the perfect solution for this public realm site, protecting visitors and surrounding areas from unwanted glare and obtrusive light.

The Bracketry

Bespoke bracketry was developed to allow for simple and safe installation of the new luminaires to the existing masts. These brackets allow for the precise directional aiming of the flood lighting to ensure the light is being directed to exact points on the linear site.

Installation

The Kingfisher High Mast Installation Team were on site to install the new system and ensure all existing masts and headframes were fully functional before commissioning the scheme.
