Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park is a new build retail park in the Kirkstall area of Leeds, famous for it’s ruined 12th Century Cistercian monastery, Kirkstall Abbey.
The retail park consists of a number of high profile retail outlets including Marks and Spencer, Outfit, Pets at Home, Card Factory, Home Bargains, Lloyds Pharmacy, Trespass, Smyths, Specsavers and JD Sports as well as coffee shop Costa Coffee and gym chain Pure Gym.
Following a site survey, an initial lighting design schematic was drawn up and the client opted to utilise LED lighting to benefit from the energy and cost savings as well as the aesthetics of the fittings chosen.
Kingfisher Lighting supplied a variety of lighting fixtures for the site which resulted in a mixture of amenity/street lighting, architectural wall mounted fixtures, recessed down lights, in-ground lighting and bollards.
ITALO - Amenity/street lighting
The ITALO Series offers functionality, versatility, and a variety of optics. The Kirkstall site chose the ITALO as it allowed uniform fixture aesthetics in a variety of locations.
QUARTO - Wall mounted lighting
The QUARTO is a stylish, modern bulkhead available with LED emergency and photocell ideal for building and perimeter lighting as can be seen on the M&S sign at Kirkstall.
ELLIS - Architectural lighting
The ELLIS is a stylish wall mounted fitting, with single or twin beam patterns. ELLIS accentuates architectural details as can be seen at Kirkstall in the wall recesses.
KLOU-IK - Bollards
The KLOU range of bollards are robust and vandal resistant with a stylish circular design. Used at Kirkstall to light pedestrian crossing areas.
RAY 110 - Recessed & surface mounted lighting
The RAY 110 is an LED recessed ceiling fitting in stainless steel with a range of sizes and beam angles in the family. Used at Kirkstall to down light around the building perimeter.
INGROUND Short 180 - In-ground lighting
The INGROUND Short 180 is the largest in the cool touch series providing extra output for additional performance. Used at Kirkstall to accentuate the trees around the car park.
By utilising LED across the site, a range of benefits have been accessed. Improved efficiencies and energy cost savings. Also, the fact that Kingfisher were chosen for all the exterior lighting meant that the client had one point of contact who could supply all the various lighting fixture types for the one site.
